DAY 46: DEEP SAND CLIMBING

Sunrise hiking
miles: 20+

Willow Creek ---> Creepy secret hunter camp in the woods where everyone had very vivid dreams.

B. brushin' his teeth.

Ben hiking in the sunrise.
The terrain today.
...
Creepy campsite.
What is going on here.

I'll make this one short kind of like a poem:

Willow Creek was a nice place to camp.
More windmills.
More sand.
Deeeeeeeeep sand.
9 miles before 9am and Lunchbox and I high fived as we reached the water cache at 9.
2 fairly steep climbs.
Was pumped all morning.
Powered by my iPod.
Rushed through the water cache in order to beat the heat and complete a decent climb of 1,500 feet.
Powered up the climb.
Siesta at the top of the climb waiting for the others.
Mac and cheese lunch.
Lunchbox drew a note for the wolf pack leading them to our lunch spot.
Walker Pass in one more day.
Hard to sleep with ants.
So many ants.
Ended the night at a very creepy hunters camp off the trail.
Hunters seem to litter a lot.
Glass everywhere.
Vivid dreaming for all.
Sweaty all day.

Today was another low day (for no reason) for me. I battled with generalized anxiety over nothing, missed Portland a ton, wished for the desert to end, and was generally lethargic. Guh. We all have our low days, and they are unpredictable.

Walker Pass is our next stop coming up, and although it's just a pass (a road) it is often a place of Trail Magic... I was trying to not get my hopes up and assume there was trail magic, but it was hard not to fantasize about it all day.

We will see.
