DAY 68: MAMMOTH LAKES, CA

Chores - shopping, packing, and sending food food food food food.

miles: 0

Mammoth is a fantastic town.

The public transportation is top-notch (FREE, FREQUENT, CLEAN, QUAINT, RELIABLE) and shuttles people around all day and night. This is a rather touristy town so perhaps this explains the free transportation, but the tourists are of a manageable breed! Everyone is here to enjoy the outdoors in some form: mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, skiing, snowboarding, etc... and the whole town is really geared towards the outdoorsy type. There are outfitters and gear shops galore, great coffeeshops, and foodie-type good food establishments. Health food stores, even.

After a long sleep-in (missed continental breakfast like usual) Rocky and I had a breakfast date with Lunchbox at the "Breakfast Club". High hopes for this place, but it turned out to be sort of a dud. This would probably be the last time we saw Lunchbox, but we didn't even know it yet.

Ben and I did chores all day. ALLLLL DAAAAAAYYYYY. Chik-Chak and Starfox would be arriving any time and we were anxious to catch up with them! Once they got into town, they booked a room down the hall at the Travelodge, so we were neighbors and we ordered pizzas from ZPIZZA (WHiCH IS AMAZING) and ate them in their room. Beers and pizza in bed is one of my favorite trail town pass times and I plan on making it a regular thing.

The evening ended in a hot tub excursion down in the basement, which was the creepiest basement hot tub location ever. It looked like an insane asylum down there. And the lighting!!! We didn't stay very long....
